Basic Rules of Shan Koe Mee
Understanding the core rules of the game will help you enjoy it more.
Deck Format
Shan Koe Mee is played with two standard 52-card decks. Each player receives 3 cards, and the outcome is decided by the total value of the cards held.
How Points Are Counted
The total of 3 cards is calculated modulo 10. For example — 23 = 3 points. 30 = Shan Koe Mee (zero = nine). The player with 9 (Shan Koe Mee) wins.
Special Hand Rankings
Straight Flush, Three of a Kind, Flush, and similar special hands take priority over a standard point total.
Betting
Blind players (those who bet without seeing their cards) and players who bet after seeing their cards are treated differently. Blind players can win higher payouts but cannot see their cards.
Showdown
When players reveal their cards, the highest-ranked hand wins. If hands are tied, the card values decide the winner.
Round Duration
The length of a Shan Koe Mee round depends on the number of players. Rounds are generally short, so you can play many games in a session.
